Today was Kirkby Lonsdale contest day and both Burneside Bands were contesting.
It is three years since the training band were able to play at this contest and they made everyone very proud.
They were led today by their MD Dave Higson. We started the contest with the National Anthem which was a great honour for a training band; following this they performed their program.
Men of Harlech
The Hymn Tune Abide with Me
Pirates of the Caribbean
Slaidburn with a Twist.
Following our performance the adjudicator then presented the band with the Goff Richards Trophy which Isaac Mckenna collected on behalf of the band.
Burneside Brass had to wait a very long time to play at today’s contest as we were drawn 8 out of 8 bands and by the time it was our turn to play the weather had turned very nasty.
We braved the heavy rain and marched to the contest area to the march Peace and Plenty Arr L Johnston.
We then took to the contest area and under the direction of our MD Mr L Johnston we played our entertainment program.
The march Motondo
The Hymn tune Angles watching over us
Eb Bass Solo Air and Rondo performed by Mr Peter Gratrix
The Days of John Peel composed by our MD Mr L Johnston.
