South Cumbria Music Festival 2015

On Sunday 22nd March Burneside Brass under the direction of our MD Mr Laurie Johnston competed at the South Cumbria Music Festival 2015. We were entered into two 3rd Section classes.
We opened our account in the entertainment class with
The main Theme from the Film Gladiator
The Lass of Richmond Hill – Baritone and EEb Bass duet Arr Mr L Johnston
March Peace and Plenty Arr Mr L Johnston
The duet was performed by Mr Oliver Bateman 1st Baritone and Mr Peter Gratrix Solo EEb Bass.
For this section we were placed in 1st position and was awarded The Oxley Development Cup

In the Open section contest for 3rd Section Bands we performed
The March – Cornish Cavalier
The Naval Hymn – Eternal Father Arr Mr L Johnston
A Day in the Country – Composed by Mr L Johnston
This was a very close contest between Burneside Brass and Flookburgh Band and we are pleased to announce that we were awarded 1st Place and presented with The Kimberley- Clark Champion Shield.
We say a big thank to our MD Mr L Johnston for all his hard work getting the band ready for this contest and his dedication in arranging and composing the pieces.
