Sunday 7th September was the last open air concert at the Grange over Sands Bandstand and Burneside Brass under the direction of our MD Mr L Johnston were very proud to be the band that brought this year’s concerts to a close. The weather for this concert could not have been better as we were blessed with glorious sunshine all afternoon.
We opened our concert with the march Hoch Heidecksberg Arr L Johnston, followed by The Great Escape, I dreamed a dream, Waterloo to the Somme Arr L Johnston, Ticket to Ride, Jerusalem, The Acrobat, Skyfall, Just a Closer Walk and we concluded the first half with the march Boots and Saddles Arr D Higson.
As we finished playing the first half of our concert we were all lucky enough to see the fly past of two Lancaster Bombers as they made their way over Morecambe Bay.
We enjoyed a short tea and cake break and then returned to the stand to restart our performance.
We started the second half with a March dedicated to the 1st World War to the Front Arr L Johnston then continued our concert with Nimrod, Air and Rondo, Valdres March, Yesterday, Gladiator, 1914 March, Eternal Father Arr L Johnston and we closed this year’s open air concerts with the march Glorious Victory Arr D Higson.
