On Saturday 5th July Burneside Brass were the musical support for the 2014 Ambleside Rushbearing and once again the village of Ambleside enjoyed glorious weather. We took part in the procession around Ambleside playing several marches, To the Front Arranged Mr L Johnston, The Kings Own Border Regimental March, Westward Ho, Slaidburn and Home again.
Once the procession had reached the centre of Ambleside everyone stopped and sang the Ambleside Rushbearing hymn to Tune Irish. The Rushes were then held aloft and we played a fanfare Arr D Higson. The parade then continued onwards to St Marys parish Church. Once at the Church there was a small outside service and the band once again led the congregation as they sang the Ambleside Rushbearing hymn. During the Hymns and Fanfare the band were conducted by Dave Higson Solo Horn.
Also today three members of the academy band joined us Tom Bowen- Burke 2nd Cornet, Daniel Booth 2nd Cornet and Alexander Beston - side Drum, Tom has never marched with the band before and one of our newest members not only marched for the first time but also managed to play the side drum. We thank Andrew Bostock for playing the Bass Drum for us.
