Burneside Brass have had an outstanding weekend of banding, yesterday we qualified to the National Brass Band Finals and today we competed twice at the South Cumbria Music Festival held at Ulverston. We were entered into two Classes the Entertainment Contest and the Open Brass Band Contest.
For the Entertainment class we performed the March Under the Stars, a cornet Solo Vincent (Starry starry Night) performed by Debbie Cain Principal cornet and Stars of Glory, a piece of music that depicts the American Civil War these three pieces were arranged for Burneside Brass by our MD Mr Laurie Johnston. On adjudication Mr Laurie Johnston was commended on his arrangements and we were awarded 1st place and presented with the J W Latimer Cup.
We then performed in the Open Brass Band Contest where we played the march HM Jollies the Hymn Tune Colne and Devon fantasy and after adjudication we were awarded 1st Place and presented with the Ulverston Town Band Shield.
We have to say a very big thank you to our MD Mr Laurie Johnston who not only got us prepared for the area contest yesterday but also worked hard to have us ready for today’s contest.
