Remembrance Weekend 2011

It has been a very busy weekend for Burneside Brass, on Friday 11th November a small band provided musical support for a wedding held at the Newby Bridge Hotel. We played a selection of music including marches, various solo items and Film themed music as well as a Traditional New Zealand piece of music for the Bride and Groom.

On Sunday we provided musical support for the Remembrance Church service held at the Kendal Parish Church where the band played several ingoing voluntaries The Hymn settings Colne and Penlan, the hymn tune Deep Harmony, Hymn to the fallen (The Theme from the Film Saving Private Ryan) and Nimrod. We also accompanied the Organist and choir during the hymns, played the National Anthem and then performed The Dawn of Spring as the out Going Voluntary.

On Sunday afternoon we were out again providing musical support for the Windermere Remembrance parade playing several Hymns prior to the Parade arriving and playing a hymn during the service as well as the National Anthem.

This was also the last engagement for our 1st Horn player who is moving to pastures new, thank you Maggie of all you have done for the band over the many years you have played with Burneside Brass you will be missed by us all.
