Maggie Lees last rehearsal and Burneside Brass Coffee Evening

On Thursday 24th November we had a band rehearsal as normal; however this rehearsal was slightly different as it was our 1st Horn Player’s very last band practice with the band.  Maggie Lees who has been with Burneside Brass for 12 years is moving away from the area to be closer to her family based in Cheshire, she will sorely missed. To mark her last rehearsal we played two pieces of music which she has enjoyed playing with the band, these were Bells across the meadow and the P Sparke Arrangement of I’ll walk with God.  Once we had completed our rehearsal we retired to the Burneside Cricket club bar where we enjoyed a hot supper provided by Maggie and her husband Andrew, Maggie was then presented with a memento of her time with the band which had been designed and produced by the rest of the Tenor Horn section and the band presented her with a leaving gift.

The following evening Friday 25th November Burneside Brass held a coffee evening at the Village hall in Underbarrow, the evening was a great success with many stalls, a large raffle, a small section of the band playing Christmas carols and as much tea and coffee as those attending would like to drink. The evening went well and a substantial amount of money was raised for band funds.
