Saturday 9th July was the first ever MAD (Making A Difference) 4 Brass Bands Day, bands all over the UK were out performing at various venues. Burneside brass also entered into the spirit of this event by performing at Wainwright’s yard Kendal. The band were positioned on the terrace so that the passing shoppers could stop and listen to our performance, as it turned out to be a very sunny day some of the shoppers took the opportunity to enjoy a cold drink outside a local eatery.
We played from 1.00pm till 3.00pm and the music was a mixture of famous marches, film music, hymns, selections, songs and solo items. The band soloists of the day were Harold Roberts Flugal Horn playing Concerto de Aranjuez, David French Solo Euphonium playing Grandfathers Clock and the cornet trio Buglers Holiday played by Debbie Caine Principal Cornet, Graham Hartley Tutti Cornet and Dave Higson Tutti Cornet.
