We were out the following day Sunday 3rd July providing the musical entertainment for an event held in Burneside. Burneside village is of course where the band rehearses and we were pleased to be asked to provide the music for this community event.
St Oswald’s School, Burneside hosted the annual duck race to raise funds for the local community, there was plenty for those attending this event to do and whilst they enjoyed what was on offer, their local Band performed some traditional Brass band music; we once again played a variety of music Marches, Film music, musical selections and solo items from David Baines Soprano cornet playing Solitaire, Sally Walker Solo Horn playing Over the Rainbow and a cornet trio by Debbie Caine Principal Cornet, Graham Hartley Tutti Cornet and Dave Higson Tutti cornet playing Buglers Holiday.
Next Weekend the band is out again, on Saturday 9th July we will be playing at Wainwrights Yard Kendal in celebration of MAD 4 Brass Bands Day where shoppers will be gently serenaded by the sweet, melodious sounds of our musical programme. MAD 4 Brass Band day is organised by the British Federation of Brass Bands (BFBB), this nationwide event will see over 200 bands participating at over 140 venues around the UK. Paying tribute to the enduring contribution that brass bands have made to local communities, Burneside Brass Band continues to showcase this rich and wonderful musical heritage.
To encourage more people to get involved in brass band music the band are inviting members of the public to join in too! So bring your instrument (or you can borrow one of theirs) and join us at the Piazza (by Pizza Express) from 1pm.
On Sunday 10th July we will be playing at Cover House Silverdale.
