On Sunday 25th July Burneside Brass performed at the 10th Anniversary of the Windermere Air show, we started playing at 10.00 as the crowds started to arrive and completed our performance at 12.30 by which time the area around Bowness on Windermere was very busy with people waiting for the Air show to begin.
We opened our performance with The RAF March in keeping with the event as many of the displays were from the RAF, we followed this with the Pennine moors suite. Harold Roberts the Bands Flugel Horn player performed the solo Concerto De Aranjuez which many will have heard from the film Brassed Off, the march Old Southall 100 was the next piece we entertained the audience with, followed by Light as Air. We concluded the first part of our performance with the TV Theme from The Thunderbirds and the March Arnhem.
Following a short break we played The New colonial march and then our solo Euphonium player, David French performed two solos in succession Myfanwy and Grandfathers Clock. The Film music from Pirates of the Caribbean and Those magnificent men in their flying machines were the next couple of pieces of music, followed by Highland Cathedral and James Bond Collection. We concluded the second part of the performance with the March Death or Glory and The old Gumbie cat.
