The first engagement of the month was playing at The Party In The Park which was organised by St. Thomas’s Church in Kendal. The Band enjoyed a well supported open air event with the sun trying very hard to break through clouds.
Another glorious sunny day was enjoyed at Natland Village Fair which this year had a 2nd World War theme and saw all the stall holders dressed in appropriate costumes. The Band made the most of the sun shine and even more use of the wonderful array of cakes supplied to them during a well deserved break.
The next engagement saw the Band travel to Bare, Morecambe for an evening concert in St. Christopher’s Church. Conducted by our bass trombone player, and local Heysham lad, John Disney who amused the audience between music with interesting facts about the pieces we played or the people who wrote them. The medley of war songs “Keep Smiling Through” was especially well received with the audience singing along.
